The Wheel of Fortune

av-admin Blog - Just Saying

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend court. I was there pleading my innocence for a driving ticket offence I had received in June. I had already been to court in September to meet with the Prosecutor, but since I would not plead guilty to the ticket, I had to go through with a trial. This was certainly a very unique experience for me, having never been in court before, and certainly opened my eyes to how the nuances of trial procedures occur.

Prior to going to court, I of course, did my Tarot cards.  Interestingly enough, the Wheel of Fortune card appeared.  While this is not a predictive card, it is about destiny, with the 3 Fates, Clotho, Lacheis and Atropos, who spin, measure and snip the threads of our lives, and provide changes in plans and circumstances that are usually beyond our control.

Evidence I thought was crucial to my defense, was not accepted. Other evidence was questioned and only partially allowed, due to circumstantial differences of here say.  All of these changes were explained to me respectfully by the Judge, but did leave me quickly trying to determine my next steps and how to wrap up my case successfully. Yikes for sure, about the changes in plans and circumstances beyond my control!!

Through it all though, I was able to keep my calm and focus, allowing me to present to the Judge, a picture of what from my perspective had taken place, as well as showing my respect for the law of the road and other drivers on it.  I am especially thankful for the Judge for his calm and respectful manner when addressing me throughout the proceedings and while summing up the case details to me for my understanding.

I felt that those concerned, including myself, did a good job of being fair and concise in our summations, while we each presented evidence and questions to each other, keeping in mind our own objectives for the outcome.

While The Wheel of Fortune was certainly in court with me yesterday and thankfully the hand of fate decided to give me a positive outcome of dismissing the ticket charge, I do Not wish to go through that again. Just saying……..
